Sen. Ron Johnson Receives PPAI Legislator of the Year Award
As part of PPAI Legislative Education and Action Day (L.E.A.D.), the Association and participating industry professionals presented Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) with the 2015 PPAI Legislator of the Year Award at Thursday's breakfast reception. Johnson's recognition kicked off the second day of L.E.A.D., PPAI's annual event in Washington, D.C., bringing the promotional products industry together with senators, congressional representatives and legislative staff to discuss relevant legislation, issues and opportunities.
Staples Profits Off Sharply
Staples Inc. reported a 39% decline in first-quarter profit and a 7 percent decrease in sales for the first quarter of 2015.
Chief Executive Ron Sargent said results were in line with the company’s expectations. “We grew sales in our North American delivery businesses and stabilized profitability across the company, which reflects continued progress on our strategic reinvention,” Mr. Sargent added.
The company, which includes Staples Promotional Products, is waiting regulatory approval of its takeover of competitor Office Depot.
