River’s End Earns Recognition at SGIA Expo

River's End Trading Company Gains Recognition at the SGIA Expo

The 2015 Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Expo brought together leaders of the specialty imaging industry this year in Atlanta. In addition to a successful showcase, River’s End Trading Company was recognized in the Association's prestigious Golden Image Competition with two Gold Awards, one for "Hipster Man" entered in the Heat Transfers Category – Digital Entries, and another for "Dog & Butterfly Grooming Studio" in the Embroidery category.

"I am very proud of the River's End decoration team," said John Maher, CEO of River's End. "Our work was compared to the best in the world, and we came out on top. That’s quite an accomplishment!”

Nearly 400 entries in 53 product categories were submitted from 87 companies from around the world. "The judges had a very difficult time this year, not because of the sheer volume of entries, but because of the overall quality of the work. Judges in virtually every category told me the entries were so good that choosing winners was a real challenge," said Johnny Shell, SGIA’s vice president of technical services.  Shell added that the Golden Image competition is judged on the technical accomplishments of each entry, excluding aesthetic issues from the evaluation and scoring process. Prints are judged on the level of difficulty and quality of execution.

"Winning the Gold Award for Embroidery and Heat Transfers puts River’s End among the top specialty printers in the world in terms of quality and capability. The ability to consistently decorate such high-quality products indicates that River's End is an expert at controlling the many variables involved in specialty printing," Shell said.
